Weill Cornell Medicine and NYP Appoints New Chair of the Department of Medicine

Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Myles Wolf as the new Chair of the Department of Medicine, effective June 1, 2024. In addition to his role as Chair, Dr. Wolf will serve as the Physician-in-Chief at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.

Dr. Wolf, an internationally renowned nephrologist and clinical investigator, comes to Weill Cornell Medicine from Duke University, where he was the Chief of the Division of Nephrology and a professor of medicine. He brings a wealth of experience in patient care, medical education, and research, focusing on mineral metabolism disorders in patients with kidney disease.

“I am thrilled to join the distinguished faculty at Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian,” said Dr. Wolf. “I look forward to working with the team to further our mission of providing top-tier patient care, advancing medical education, and conducting groundbreaking research.”

In his new roles, Dr. Wolf aims to enhance interdisciplinary collaboration across the department and hospital to foster innovation in patient care and improve health outcomes. His leadership will also focus on expanding the educational opportunities for medical students and residents at Weill Cornell Medicine.

Dr. Wolf has made significant contributions to the field of nephrology, particularly in the area of mineral metabolism. His research has led to better understanding and management of disorders related to calcium, phosphorus, and vitamin D metabolism in chronic kidney disease. This work has not only advanced clinical practices but also improved patient quality of life.

Dr. Wolf is the recipient of numerous awards, including the prestigious Donald W. Seldin Young Investigator Award from the American Society of Nephrology and the Distinguished Clinical Investigator Award from the National Kidney Foundation. He has authored more than 250 peer-reviewed articles and has been a principal investigator on multiple National Institutes of Health-funded research projects.
