Vanderbilt University recruits new Associate Vice Chair for Advanced Practice in the Department of Medicine

Jane Case, DNP, APRN-BC, has been appointed as the Associate Vice Chair for Advanced Practice for the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC). Case, who has been with the Department of Medicine since 2013, previously served as the Director of Advanced Practice. In her new role, she will lead the efforts of advanced practice providers within the department.

Case began her nursing career in 1989 and has since held various positions, including ICU nurse and nursing supervisor, before becoming a family nurse practitioner. She joined the faculty at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing and has been a primary care provider at Vanderbilt, managing a patient panel of over 3,000. Case completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at Vanderbilt in 2010 and transitioned to her leadership role in the Department of Medicine in 2013.

Her professional interests include preventive care and community health, and she is passionate about clinical teaching. Case has received numerous awards throughout her career, including the Tennessee Nurse Practitioner of the Year award in 2012 by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Bryan Harris, MD, MPH, MMHC, Executive Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs for the Department of Medicine, praised Case as an exceptional clinician and a visionary in advocating for excellence, safety, and efficiency throughout the department. Her promotion is seen as a testament to her dedication to fostering an environment that values the perspectives of all faculty and staff members.

Jane Case, DNP, APRN-BC, is the Director of Advanced Practice for Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Department of Medicine. With a nursing career that began in 1989, Case has extensive experience in the field, starting as an ICU nurse at Morehead Memorial Hospital in Eden, North Carolina. Her dedication and expertise have led her to her current leadership role at Vanderbilt, where she oversees the advanced practice efforts within the Department of Medicine.
