The University of Minnesota was recently named a Morris K. Udall Center for Excellence in Parkinson’s Disease Research by the National Institutes of Health. This designation comes with $9.07 million in funding over the next five years to establish a Udall Center at U of M, as well as advance research addressing the fundamentals of Parkinson’s Disease. This research will aim to better diagnose and treat patients with the disease.
The center will be led by professor and chair of the department of neurology at the university, Jerrold Vitek, M.D., Ph.D. The center will collaborate with leading Parkinson’s researchers globally, in addition to utilizing the many experts already at the University of Minnesota.
