The U.S. News and World Report rankings for 2016-2017 were recently released with the UK HealthCare placing highly in a variety of areas nationally, and one number in the state of Kentucky. The annual rankings from the U.S. News and World Report rankings are considered to be the authority on the quality of top healthcare providers in the U.S.
Nationally, the UK HealthCare system ranked No. 45 in Geriatrics. Also, they were rated “High Performing” in six specialty areas: Cancer, Diabetes, and Endocrinology, Nephrology, Neurology and Neurosurgery, Orthopedics and Pulmonology. For Common Adult Procedures and Conditions, high performing scores were earned in Heart Bypass Surgery, Heart Failure, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm, Colon Cancer Surgery, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Hip Replacement, Knee Replacement and Lung Cancer.
UK HealthCare’s Dr. Michael Karpf, UK executive vice president for health affairs “We are committed to being one of the premier academic medical centers in the country and dedicated in serving those who need complex medical care without ever having to travel far from their home.”
In addition to recognition from U.S. News World Report, UK HealthCare achieved Magnet Status in February 2016, from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) – the highest honor for excellence in nursing.
Finally, as the healthcare landscape continues to evolve rapidly, UK HealthCare has met the challenge in strides – providing high-quality care for an ever-expanding portion of the Kentucky population as UK becomes the medical hub.
