Medical Director of Thoracic Oncology – SCI
The Swedish Cancer Institute (SCI) is recruiting an accomplished national leader in thoracic medical oncology to lead and further develop both a clinical and clinical research program in thoracic medical oncology. SCI is devoted to providing cancer patients with the most comprehensive treatment options and innovative therapies available, and is the largest NCI designated NCORP site, with over 41 participating affiliates across multiple states for this 13 million, 6 year grant. - Full-time leadership position, requiring board certification in medical oncology
- A minimum of 5-10 years of experience beyond fellowship training, relevant clinical trial development and leadership in thoracic medical oncology is highly preferred
- This position is anticipated to be clinically-based, with the potential for pre-clinical collaborations with a range of research partners in Seattle and beyond
- The ideal candidate will have expertise in the design and conduct of early phase therapeutic trials in thoracic medical oncology, translational research and molecular oncology, along with a record of successful grant and/or contract support for clinical research

Center for Lung Research in Honor of Wayne Gittinger
Since opening in 2016, the Center for Lung Research in Honor of Wayne Gittinger has served as a regional hub for research and education in pulmonary health. In addition to fueling innovative clinical research on lung cancer screening, pleural disease and advanced malignancy; the program focuses on mentorship of tomorrow’s top clinicians and researchers in the field.
The Center for Lung Research in Honor of Wayne Gittinger is a clinical research program based within the Department of Thoracic Surgery and Interventional Pulmonology at the Swedish Cancer Institute in Seattle, Washington. The leadership team is comprised of researchers and clinicians who specialize in lung cancer screening, pleural disease, and the management and palliation of advanced malignancy. This close relationship between clinical problems and research questions foster a unique and thriving multidisciplinary collaboration. The goal and mission of the program is to improve the lives of patients and their access to care. At its core the program provides:

- Mentorship and research opportunities promoting active research and support for the next generation of clinician researchers and research scientists

Swedish Center for Research & Innovation (SCRI)
The Swedish Center for Research and Innovation (SCRI) supports and administers research activities throughout the six Swedish campus locations. SCRI is one of the leading clinical trial sites in the western United States, and at any given time, there are more than 600 research studies being conducted by Swedish-affiliated clinicians and other investigators. In addition to participating in major federally funded programs Swedish physicians are involved in research studies of new treatment approaches for everything from coronary-artery disease to ovarian cancer to retinopathy. To support this work, Swedish employs numerous research staff including coordinators, scientists, interviewers and research nurses. Below are a few highlights of our research.
