Position Overview
MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is seeking a distinguished physician-scientist or clinical leader to serve as the Director of the Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Immunotherapy Program. This is a leadership position within the Division of Hematology/Oncology, responsible for directing and expanding a world-class program in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) and cellular therapy. The successful candidate will oversee clinical operations, research initiatives, and faculty development, with a focus on innovation in transplantation, cellular immunotherapy, and precision medicine.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership in developing and expanding the Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Immunotherapy Program at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.
- Oversee the clinical operations of the stem cell transplant and immunotherapy service, ensuring high-quality patient care and adherence to national standards, including FACT and NMDP accreditation requirements.
- Lead clinical and translational research efforts focused on hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, CAR-T therapy, immune-based therapies, and novel cell-based approaches.
- Collaborate with institutional leadership to develop programmatic growth strategies, including recruitment of faculty, expansion of clinical trials, and implementation of innovative therapies.
- Foster collaborations with basic and translational scientists at Georgetown University’s Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, as well as regional and national research networks.
- Serve as a mentor and educator for fellows, residents, and medical students, integrating cutting-edge advancements into education and training programs.
- Secure extramural funding and contribute to scholarly activities, including publishing in high-impact journals and presenting at national and international conferences.
- Partner with hospital administration and external stakeholders to enhance access to cellular immunotherapy, including expanding allogeneic and autologous transplant programs and CAR-T therapy initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree with board certification in Hematology and/or Medical Oncology.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and/or cellular immunotherapy with demonstrated leadership experience.
- Established record of clinical expertise, academic achievement, and research productivity in the field of stem cell transplantation and cellular immunotherapy.
- Eligible for faculty appointment at Georgetown University School of Medicine at the Associate Professor or Professor level.
- Proven ability to develop and lead multidisciplinary teams, foster collaborations, and build successful clinical and research programs.
- Experience with clinical trials, translational research, and securing extramural funding is highly desirable.
- Strong commitment to mentorship, education, and training of future leaders in hematology and cellular immunotherapy.
