Position Overview
Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a distinguished and visionary leader to serve as the Chief of GI Oncology at the John Theurer Cancer Center (JTCC) in Hackensack, New Jersey. This is a unique opportunity for an accomplished oncologist to lead and expand a nationally recognized Gastrointestinal Oncology Program within one of the most advanced cancer networks in the country. The Chief will play a pivotal role in clinical excellence, research innovation, and program development, fostering a collaborative and patient-centered approach to GI cancer care.

Position: Chief of GI Oncology at Hackensack Meridian Health
Location: Hackensack, New Jersey
Cancer Network Affiliation: John Theurer Cancer Center
- Assist the Vice President Physician-in-Chief Oncology in supervising academic and administrative activities with the division
- Assists the Vice President Physician-in-Chief Oncology with the review of the quality of patient care within the division including conducting Ongoing Practice Performance Evaluation (OPPE) as needed as well as other quality reviews and evaluations using appropriate metrics
- Assists with enforcing the Medical Center and Medical Staff by-laws, rules, regulations and policies within the division
- Responsible for monitoring research being performed within the division to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
- Responsible for maintaining the division’s clinical trial portfolio
- Responsible for NCI required metrics within the division
- Be an active participant in the administrative programs and responsibilities for the Cancer Center.
- Be an active participant with Georgetown Lombardi for all NCI activities
- Works in conjunction with the CDI for divisional projects and research.
- Attends HMH and NCI meetings as needed
- Publish articles in peer reviewed journals
- Other duties as assigned
- Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center’s Organizational Competencies
- MD/DO from a recognized medical school
- Demonstrated expertise if the field of study
- Experience in clinical research
- Current, valid New Jersey medical license
- Board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Hematology, Oncology
