Dr. David J. Langer, former director of cerebrovascular research at North Shore-LIJ’s Cushing Neuroscience Institute (CNI), has been promoted to director of neurosurgery at Lenox Hill Hospital (LHH). Dr. Langer will lead the initiative to expand CNI’s neurosurgery program in Manhattan, enhancing treatment options for patients seeking top-notch neurosurgical care. He is an author of numerous papers and book chapters who is widely sought out as an international leader in the field of cerebrovascular surgery and research.
Dr. Langer earned his medical degree and completed his neurosurgical residency training at the University of Pennsylvania. Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Langer served as a neurovascular fellow at Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan and its Institute for Neurology and Neurosurgery. He has also received training in both laser-assisted cerebral bypass surgery and advanced endovascular techniques. Dr. Langer’s research interests include: arteriovenous malformations, aneurysms, carotid artery disease, complex and minimally invasive spine surgery, acoustic neuromas, benign brain tumor surgery, moyamoya disease, brain revascularization and medical informatics.
